HARINAWA

Letter of the Founder

Back when I used to visit my relatives from my father’s side in the Philippines, I would hear the term harinawa from them. I could not remember the first time I asked for its meaning, but I knew learned its depth when I heard it in a song. Only when I grew old enough that I realized the weight of the word. Whenever I hear or say it, there is this concept that stay with me: in time.

This is why I created Harinawa Magazine.

Harinawa is my passion project dedicated to the Filipinos and their hopes. I explore the depth of their desires by writing stories about their harinawa. I consider this digital magazine as my medium of understanding their backstories while sharpening up my abilities as a journalist and a rookie managing editor.
